Darjeeling's tea gardens, at altitudes of up to 2,400m on the sunny southern slopes of the Himalayas, produce the finest, most floral and elegant tea. In mid-March, the nights in the tea gardens are still relatively cold, but during the day the sun is already shining brightly and ensures that the first tender shoots emerge from the tea bushes.
